One rainy Sunday...

I think we've had more than a few rainy Sundays just lately, not to mention, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays etc! On just such a day a few weeks ago, I decided to turn my hand to a project I'd had in mind for a while. On one of my trips to a flea market, I'd bought an old wooden filing cabinet. It was painted white, with aluminium handles and was crying out for a transformation.

I had some 1940s wallpaper which I thought would be perfect, so I set to work!

It was a rather tricky job covering some of the corners but I got there in the end! I then had to find the right handles and settled on these milk glass grab handles, I think they finish it off nicely!

These drawers are destined for my new office but I think they look quite nice in my bedroom!

Have you been working on any 'rainy day' projects?

  1. It looks beautiful! I love the wallpaper such a great find.I have plenty of rainy day projects but finding time to do them is tricky.I picked up a lovely Victorian glazed cabinet that needs painting for the kitchen.I just need to decide what colour.I might look out for some vintage wallpaper to line the back with now I've seen yours!

  3. They look fantastic!!! I've always got a project on the go and have to admit I am less sidetracked if it's raining - not that I want it to rain, I much prefer the sunshine and being out in the garden!

  7. Hi Clare

Well done you! How you find the time to do these projects beats me as I know what else you get through in a week. I've been working on some painting projects, but nothing is finished so there's nothing I can show at the moment!

    Keep up the good work!

  8. Beautiful cabinet and the handles are perfect for it. As far as projects are concerned would you call unpacking and finding a place for "stuff" a rainy day project? Its such a process but we are getting closer to the end every day.

  13. What a great idea, that looks so nice!

Years ago I sat in an auction where victorian wallpaper was going for really high prices. I couldn't understand why but wish I could come across it all again. There are loads of things I could use it for now:))

  29. You are so clever to decorate that cabinet with wallpaper, it must have been fiddly to do. A beautiful result though,I love the pretty pieces of linen that are draped over the drawer. The rain has definitely outstayed its welcome this summer as far as I'm concerned, a few warm sunny days would be wonderful.

  30. It looks absolutely gorgeous! Such pretty paper. I know I'd have really struggled to get those corners looking so neat.
The only projects I have going on at the moment all seem to still be in my head. I really need to get motivated to get creative again soon.
