Views of my village and garden

In response to Lisa's question on my last post, when she asked if the rest of my village is as pretty as our little cottage, I thought I would share some photos with you. Sue inspired me to get adventurous and make a slide show - so I've actually put two slide shows together! The first is a collection of village photos (the SITV stands for Stanford-in-the-Vale, the name of the village, but it's so long I have had to abbreviate it for the slide show!) I intend to get out and about and take some more photos of the village soon but I hope you enjoy these in the meantime!

The next slide show is a collection of photos taken today whilst I pottered in the garden. Here are some lovely Spring flowers, including more of the wisteria! Do you like the signs? I painted the one shown in front of the flower bed many years ago and it sits outside in all weathers! The ceramic sign was created especially for us by the very talented ceramic artist Mary Rose Young. It will soon become hidden by the wisteria leaf, so I thought you should see it while you still can!

I hope you enjoy the photos!

  3. Hi Clare

Your garden is looking even lovelier this year. I think you should do a 'before and after' to show all the hard work you and Mike put in last year - or was it 2 years ago!!

  5. Hi Clare,
The village that you live in is beautiful - I want to move!! It is so quaint - the council in their wisdom allowed lots of hideous 1960's houses to be built in our village, which ruined the character, as you can imagine. (Maybe I should take some pics of the best bits!)
Your garden looks delightful too. Thanks for sharing the slideshow,
    Niki x

  7. Your village looks so pretty especially the lane - it makes me want to go round that bend and see what lies beyond:) The wisteria is lovely, it's something I love but have never had - partly reading all those 'how to prune your wisteria' articles in reply to the 'my wisteria never flowers' letters!

  25. Good morning, Clare! I guess by now all you lovely UK ladies have figured out how much I am in love with your part of the world! Someday I will take pics of all the everyday items in our house that come from England -- especially many of the condiments we use daily in our kitchen (as we sell so many in our cookshop)!

  26. Beautiful- just beautiful! It brings back some wonderful memories for me. Do you mind telling me if there is a home that joins the property of the chruch in the picture? I think I stayed there many moons ago while visiting a young love! Thank you, Kasse
