Decisions, decisions...

I've been busy collecting all sorts of vintage treasures together, ready for selling on my new website. We're getting nearer and nearer to 'launch day' so I thought I should get organised and gather together my stock. After all, a shop with no stock would be no use at all, would it?!

But anyone who knows me will confirm that I only tend to buy the things I like - which does make shopping an absolute pleasure of course - but it's an absolute disaster when it comes to parting with things!!!

For example, there are these wonderful old handpainted panels which I am so tempted to keep as I'm sure I'd find a use for them one day! Then there's this lovely old handpainted, age-distressed table - why aren't I keeping that?!

I also love this old roses and chippy table too...

...and I've just remembered this gorgeous 1940's French bedspread - a real beauty! Oh dear!

I'm sure you can see my dilemma! I suppose I just need to be strong don't I?!

  1. You have some really love things, I'm not surprised you don't want to part with them. I know the feeling. My website is going to sell a few vintage bits as well as the things I make, but the things I've gathered so far I like too much to sell. Looks like we're both going to have to be strong!

  2. I have the same problem with the stuff I sell on ebay! What I do is keep it on display in my home for a while and THEN sell it, after I have had some pleasure from it!

  3. I have this problem too. I won't buy it unless I like it, and then I want to keep it because I like it! :)

  4. Oh dear..I would be exactly the same..!At least you get to buy and enjoy them for a time. There is always something nice to be had, so you sell these lovelies and everyone will love your site, and you can buy more....LOL

  5. It is such a relief to discover that I'm not the only one with this problem. I have been buying with the intention of selling for a while now but just haven't been able to part with anything yet. So I just have to be strong do I?

  10. All your things are lovely it must be so hard parting, but at least you will be able to go and buy more lovely things that you like. You have an excellent eye for buying lovely things, I wish I did but I'm just not good at shopping

  20. But anyone who knows me will confirm that I only tend to buy the things I like

Of course everyone on the planet would say the same thing, right? But when it all ends up in the attic, the basement, or the closet we know we're fooling ourselves! :)

  25. I could never be a shopowner, I'd want it all for myself! Every once in awhile I look at old photos of stuff I've sold on eBay and wonder why I didn't keep it. Oh the agony, and your stuff is so pretty!

  28. Oh it's such a dilemma isn't it? I just cannot buy things I dislike for profit, and I cannot sell the things I love. I hope you find some strength to let go of a few things. Although that 1940's is surely too beautiful to part with? ;o)
    Good luck! xoxo
