A fresh new look for Spring!
My thoughts have been turning towards the new season which will soon be upon us and so it was 'out with the old and in with the new' in my kitchen at the weekend! Well, of course nothing is actually new - except the look! I decided a fresh and Spring-like appearance was needed for one of my dresser tops - plus it was a good opportunity to give it a good clean!!
I rummaged through some of my pretty chintz and cottageware china and re-dressed the dresser! It is looking just a tad minimalist for me - but I'm sure I can work on that!
All that light space really sets off my stunning amaryllis which is in full bloom. This was a Christmas present and has turned out to be a real stunner! It is called Red Lion - a very appropriate name!
All this early Spring cleaning has put me in the mood to do some painting - not the artistic kind though! As soon as I can decide on the right shade of green, my old 1940s kitchen cupboards will be transformed!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh, my! That is gorgeous! Thanks for the glimpse of spring.
ReplyDeleteYour dresser looks stunning dressed with that china and beautiful amarylis. I think the Spring air has been getting to a lot of us. I have spent all day rubbing down and painting four coats onto my dresser. It just needs a little distressing and then will be ready for a photo too.
ReplyDeleteHi Clare, I adore your flowery china...it's just the kind of thing I really like and it all looks great displayed on your dresser.

The red of the flower really pops against all the spring green dishes! That's one of my favorite color combinations!
ReplyDeleteHi Clare,
ReplyDeleteYour dresser and pieces look SO fabulous, the colours are too delicious - they make me want to own all of them to look at everyday!
I actually cleaned and re-arranged my old kitchen cabinet too and it's looking alot nicer - yeah minimalist too really but that JUST doesn't seem to last ha!
Nice to catch up with you again,
Debra :-)
Lucky you heading into Spring Clare, we are heading into autumn, cant stand the cold weather :0(
ReplyDeleteThat amaryllis is a stunner, sets off your kitchen display beautifully.

Beautiful colors - I wish I had a dresser like that. I, too am trying to decide on the right shade of green for my kitchen. I like the jadeite green, but then I think a more yellowy green would look fresher & go better with my living room walls that are pale yellow. I have the hardest time selecting paints because I know what I want to see, but it's so hard to achieve it in the home...but, my yellow walls came out exactly how I wanted when I did them 10 yrs ago - and, I still love them.

ReplyDeleteI adore your china! I'm such a pink and green girl. And I see patterns of china that I've never seen before!
ReplyDeleteHi Clare, your spring arrangement on your dresser looks gorgeous, you have a lovely collection of fresh and pretty china there. It's nice to ring the changes now and again, almost as good as getting new (old!) things.

I love the colors you chose... and the green for your cabinets sounds so nice and pretty! I am planning to paint some rooms in my house... once you start it all goes along nicely. It is the getting started part that is hard!
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring that barbola tri mirror you have on your website, oh how I wish I lived across the ocean to come and pick it up!

Hi Clare
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about getting the right shade of green. It is too easy to get it wrong isn't it? Your dresser looks divine, so fresh and pretty.
So pretty, I have open cabinets in my kitchen and painted my beadboard pink, a very informal look but I love to look at my pretty dishes. Love your blog. I have added you to my favs. Stop by sometime.
ReplyDeleteLeAnn :)
I love the look of your china and the pretty red flower adds a special touch to the picture.
ReplyDeleteI always buy an amaryliss in the Jan sale each year when they are reduced. I had a fantastic one from Marks and Spencer this year, which had 3 stalks and a total of seven flowers !
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Alot of the crockery looks like it's from the art deco period :-)
ReplyDeleteOh your dresser looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love all the greens that are around at the moment.
