Something Old, Something New!
Like many of you 'vintage girls' out there (and I'm not referring to our ages!) I have more than a few collections of vintage treasures. I never seem to have any trouble starting a new collection either - it's the stopping that causes the most bother!!! One of may favourite collections are old talc tins. I recently saw Niki's post with her gorgeous bathroom cabinets stacked with lovely things and thought I'd share a few of mine with you all. I must confess to having added to the collection since I took the photo above! I've also placed a few in my shop as I decided it would be good to share them with others!
Another growing collection of mine consists of the wonderful ceramics of Virginia Graham who is based in Cardiff. She produces some amazing pieces using moulds and shapes based on vintage crockery etc. For example, a teapot may have the handle shape of a Victorian teapot, the spout shape of an Edwardian teapot and the lid shape from a 1930s teapot! She then decorates them using vintage designs such as a rosy chintz or Cornishware stripes. I absolutely love her work, she is so talented and has some amazing ideas!
As a lover of vintage I'm very rarely drawn to 'new' but these lovely ceramics fit in perfectly with all of my old items. I'd love to see photos of your 'new' vintage treasures!
Clare, those teapots are WONDERFUL! I've never seen anything like them before. I have the same "problem"... I think I collect "collections"! Always something new to admire and justify a new collection of. Your tins are lovely, too!
ReplyDeleteI just love your collections! Maybe I should snap some photos of mine...I seem to collect everything!
ReplyDeleteHi Clare - Your collections are amazing. Hope you're going to show everyone the seagulls!! Sue x
ReplyDeleteHI CLARE,
ReplyDeleteI check in on you most every day. You have so many pretty things.
I know what you mean about not being able to stop the collecting, I can hardly stay away from the thrift store, just sure they put something new out that I want, so I better get over there.HA.
I thought Niki's collection was so nice, that now I have added that to my things to look for. What fun it is.
You have a nice place to visit, see you later.

Oh my goodness... Eye Candy overdose!! Thank you (I think!) for the link! heh heh, I'm going to get into trouble I'm sure ;)
ReplyDeleteohhh Clare! Love your talc tins....the whole vignette is beautiful! Thanks so much for coming by and visiting me! I love the polka dots on your last little ceramic. cherry
ReplyDeleteFascinating collections. I have many myself but I am finding as my husband and I are purging and packing to move, that our collections are a bane to me. They are hard to pack and I don't know where I will put them in our future home. Actually its quite exhausting.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered you and LOVE the photos! Love all those soft, pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Clare,
ReplyDeleteI love all those talc tins and most unusual teapots.
Another great post!
Best wishes,
Ruth
I love the picture!
ReplyDeleteAll those tins certainly look good together and I LOVE the jug.
Best wishes Ginny
Hi Clare. I love this vignette. The colors are so beautiful. Those old maufacturers really outdid themselves as far as graphics go.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely collection! Thanks for sharing.
Oh dear, I'm fearing finding out about Virginia Graham could prove to be expensive. Those two pieces are wonderful! Being a Cornishware collector I particularly love the teapot. Those talc tins are really gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteI love your collection. Love the religious motto picture behind them too. I collect these too!
ReplyDeleteHi Clare,
ReplyDeleteWell, you know that I love old talc tins and other vintage toiletries, but you have many in your collection that I do not yet have...so I see I will have to continue collecting! hehe!...Love the photo BTW...soooo pretty. (Thank you for the link.)
I'm not sure that I have any 'new vintage', but will have a look....
Niki. x
Wonderful collection! I love, love the vintage tins. I feel a new obcesion calling me.
ReplyDeleteOh Clare I love that first picture with your gorgeous treasures!
ReplyDeleteOh, my latest vintage treasure is a collection of more than twenty original vintage postcards with elegant ladies and little girls... found on a flea market in PARIS yesterday. I can't stop looking at them and will use them for my future craftings and sewing projects soon.
ReplyDeleteYou really have a beautiful collections, I always enjoy my visit to your blog.
Love the vintage bathroom products! How lovely to have them displayed. Your home must have quite a welcoming atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteHaha...no i hope you dont reffering to our age..:) What a collection you have, and i love love the colours!! I dont see that much old talc tins here in Holland. Enjoy your treasures..shure you do..How is it going with the shop?
ReplyDeleteI like your blog a lot! What a beautiful "altar" of tins. In this part of the world, vintage tins are just too expensive for a stay-at-home-mum like myself. Instead I collect vintage aprons, patterns and - lately - bits of paper: old school reports, receipts, paper dolls etc. I must really be a grandmother at heart, but even receipts used to be prettier. The problem with vintage post cards is that often they have valueable stamps attached and I'm only interested in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI've been on many blogs today but this talc can photo has taken my heart and ripped it out! Now I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for these in the future!
ReplyDeleteI just love that teapot. I clicked on her site....wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteHI Clare, great pics! will you be selling that print in the pink frame? Just wanted to check before anyone else did!
ReplyDeleteI love her stuff too. She has some of her stuff on sale not far from me. It's for sale in a place called The Model House were they exhibit different peoples craft. I aslo go on diferent courses there too. (ceramics, painting, stained galss etc.)
ReplyDeleteClare, your style is so yummy. Love your talc tin collection!
